• Despite strides, there is room for growth in public engagement in Athens. Public materials – such as plans and meeting agenda items – should be easily available, and public meetings should be available for viewing via television and web. Currently, only Mayor and Commission Agenda Setting and Voting Meetings are televised and archived online, but we can and should make more public meetings accessible. This has been a budgetary challenge in years past, but we should work with student groups and the Grady College of Journalism to provide this as a service learning opportunity.
  • The best experience I have as a public servant is the experience of listening to you, and using your knowledge, wisdom and experience to fuel the work of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County. I will personally commit to regular listening sessions, and will look for every opportunity for government departments and my colleagues on the Commission to have similar sessions.
